We are mission-driven, and we take pride in living up to that charge. Darrow provides the right mix of challenging classes, structure, encouragement, and strength of community, for students to reach their full potential as motivated, thriving, college-bound learners.

Darrow is distinctive among independent schools, thanks to its historic site, its integration of sustainability themes across the curriculum and in daily life, programs like Hands-to-Work, and the belief that learning can happen in and out of the classroom. All of these features contribute to our success. Because of our small, close-knit community and unique approach to teaching, our students flourish.

At a family weekend a few months ago, Lindsey, a recent graduate, returned to share her perspective on her Darrow experience. She said Darrow helped her to become her “best self,” and that her experience and what she gained on the Mountainside continues to influence her today. Like Lindsey, lives of students have been changed for nearly 80 years at Darrow School through rigorous academics, close relationships with faculty, an abundance of individual attention, life-long friendships, hands-on learning, and the special spirit of the Shaker mountainside.
