Assistant to the Facilities Director
Darrow School is seeking an individual with hands-on maintenance, grounds, and custodial skills, as well as administrative and computer proficiency, to serve as an assistant and report to the Facilities Director.
The duties required for the Assistant to the Facilities Director are as follows:
- Ability to perform administrative tasks as assigned, including but not limited to: filing records pertaining to work-order management, projects, purchasing, and life/safety compliance; coordinating fleet maintenance; inventory control; campus set-ups and summer programs; campus security; and facility needs when and as they occur.
- Attending meetings with other members of the Facilities and administrative staff.
- The individual must be willing and able to accomplish assigned, hands-on maintenance, grounds, or custodial tasks, and must be able to work with others in a team environment or alone.
- The assistant will help with project management on a year-round basis.
- The assistant will be required to take part in snow removal operations and be available to work overtime on occasion for campus events or weather-related emergencies.
- The assistant will be required to be occasionally on call for facility's needs.
- The assistant must have the willingness and interpersonal skills to work closely with all campus constituencies and recognize the appropriate attentiveness and sensitivity required when working around students, faculty, and staff in a school environment.
Requirements for the position:
- High school diploma or the equivalent, the ability to lift or carry 40 pounds of weight on a regular basis, and the ability to climb and work off of a six-foot ladder. Additional education is preferred, but not required.
- A valid driver's license.
- Experience in grounds, maintenance, and custodial work.
- Experience in administrative duties, including being familiar with basic computer programs.
- The willingness to work enthusiastically as an Assistant to the Facilities Director, in the field or office.
