Noncompetitive Sports
Like the athletes who participate in inter-scholastic sports, students who pursue noncompetitive athletic activities enjoy the benefits of physical fitness, fellowship, and fun. When the work of the class day is over, Darrow students are ready to play!
Darrow offers at least one noncompetitive sports option for each season.
- Outdoor Education, offered fall and spring, takes advantage of our campus setting and the natural resources of Columbia County for hiking, rock climbing, camping, snowshoeing, and other activities that enhance appreciation for our natural environment.
- The Fitness and Conditioning program in fall and winter makes uses of our newly renovated fitness center. Students use weight machines and free weights for strength training, and elliptical trainers, stationary bikes, and treadmills for aerobic exercise.
- Our Alpine program in winter enables participating students to ski and snowboard five days a week at nearby Jiminy Peak.
- Theater in fall and winter is an option for students looking for a noncompetitive experience in which teamwork is key. For more information, visit Arts at Darrow.
- Independent/special electives vary by year and season. In the past, Darrow students have participated in martial arts, mountain biking, and horseback riding, among others. Check with the athletic office for the most current offerings.
