Leadership Opportunities
Darrow is a small school where students feel a sense of empowerment: They know they can make a positive impact through a variety of formal and informal leadership roles. These include serving as members of Student Government, athletic team captains, and leaders of specific clubs and activities.
Darrow encourages students to apply to be Prefects in one or more areas. For example, Admission Prefects give campus tours and take the lead in open house events; Art Prefects maintain the ceramic studio and monitor open studio hours; and Recycling Prefects take responsibility for coordinating campus recycling efforts.
Resident Assistants and Core Leaders are the highest level of student leadership at Darrow. After receiving training in personal leadership, communication skills, and mediation, these students organize and run the New Student Orientation, coordinate campus events, and serve as leaders in the dormitories.
Nearly all students experience some leadership role by the time they graduate, adding to their opportunities to be prepared for college and life.
