In a spirited match against a league rival who has historically been the most even matchup in the Ducks’ schedule, the Darrow lacrosse team bested the visiting Marvelwood Pterodactyls by a score of 18-7. In a very promising omen for next year's campaign, Darrow's goal production came from eight different players, including three players new to the sport scoring the first goals of their Darrow careers - midfielders Zion ‘17, Marco ‘18 and Henry ‘18 all found the back of the Marvelwood net thanks to their own determined play and the skilled playmaking of their more experienced teammates. Veteran attackmen Frank ‘17 (2), co-captain Connor ‘17 (5), and Luke ‘18 (4), co-captain and midfielder Sam ‘18 (3), and long-stick middie Desmond ‘17 (1) all contributed to Darrow's scoring as well. Goalkeeper Felix ‘18 continued to grow in poise and confidence as he learns the ins and outs of his position. The Darrow stickmen now turn their attention to preparing to give their Spring Family Weekend spectators a strong showing against the visiting Woodhall Phoenixes on Saturday.
Tennis played exceptionally today. Unfortunately NYMA was not able to bring many of their players, but this gave us a chance to allow Golan play his first Darrow singles match and Haojun play his first doubles. Darrow won all 6 singles and both doubles.
The Darrow lacrosse team continued to roll as it notched a second win (17-6) for the season against Woodhall, making the team's Senior Day even more celebratory. In recognition of the key role and contributions of the team's seniors, Kevin, Frank, Rebecca, Robert, Connor, Zion and Desmond acted as honorary game captains, leading the team to the field and through its pregame warmup, meeting with the Woodhall captains and the game officials before the start, and starting the game at their respective positions. With support from their teammates, these seven seniors were instrumental in Darrow's convincing 17-6 victory. Darrow's scoring came from attackmen Connor and Luke '18 with 5 goals each, attackman Frank with 4, and middies Sam '18 and Desmond with 2 and 1 respectively. Despite a bit of a slow start, goalkeeper Felix '18 came on strong as the game progressed and turned in another stalwart performance between the pipes. The Duck laxmen now prepare for the home stretch of their season as they hit the road for their last four regular season games, with high hopes that the team is poised to qualify for postseason play.

In the first contest of Darrow's season-ending stretch of four road games, the Ducks traveled to Hoosick, New York to take on the Owls of Hoosac School in a hard-fought match that ended in a 5-16 loss for Darrow. Against an opponent who has traditionally been one of the strongest teams on Darrow’s schedule, the Darrow laxmen acquitted themselves valiantly, playing with determination, composure and spirit right down to the final horn. The Ducks’ goal production came from junior attackman Luke with 4 goals and senior attackman Frank with 1. In their second meeting of the season, Darrow Lacrosse again bested Marvelwood on the road, emerging with a 12-4 victory. In the absence of the team’s regular goalkeeper, attackman Luke ’18 took over between the pipes, turning in a strong and spirited performance. The Ducks’ offense featured some excellent playmaking, with several textbook goals set up by outstanding pinpoint assists. Finding the back of the Marvelwood net for Darrow were attackman Frank ’17 with 5 goals, attackman and co-captain Connor ’17 with 3, and, with 1 goal each, defenseman and co-captain Kevin ’17 (on another of his signature full-field clearing runs from defense), midfielder and co-captain Sam ‘18, midfielder Maddie ‘18, and midfielder Zion ‘17. Zion and fellow midfielder Leo ‘18, taking faceoffs for the first time in their careers, helped Darrow gain offensive possession and showed impressive potential as faceoff players. The Darrow players emerged from this win with renewed confidence and commitment to carrying the team’s momentum into its road match against the Master’s School in Simsbury, Connecticut on Monday.
