Difficulty finishing at the basket resulted in a 3-point loss at Marvelwood on Saturday. The exciting, up-tempo game came down to the final possession, when sophomore forward Tyler calmly sank 2 free throws for the last of her 13 points. With just a few seconds left Darrow challenged the inbound play, desperately needing a steal and a quick shot, but the Lady Dactyls were able to protect the ball until the horn sounded. Highlights included 3 blocks by Tyler, 14 rebounds by sophomore center Leah, along with 9 boards by senior forward Mia, and 4 steals by senior guard KayKay.

Darrow traveled to PDS today. Despite some hard play, Darrow could not find their rhythm and lost 60 to 36.

Darrow Women's Basketball parlayed tenacious defense into numerous first-half fast breaks en route to a 43-8 victory in D's House against Poughkeepsie Day. Junior guard and co-captain Jayme had a breakout performance - scoring a career high 12 points and adding 6 assists, along with 5 steals to lead the Ducks. Senior forward and co-captain Mia had a career high 9 points, including a 3-pointer, and pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds. Senior guard KayKay and sophomore forward Tyler each added 6 points, with KayKay completing 5 steals, as well. Sophomore center Leah played a strong game in the middle - anchoring the half court defense, nabbing 7 rebounds and putting in 5 points and 2 assists at the other end of the court. Junior forward Katy scored her first Darrow basket on a beautiful 12-foot turnaround shot in the game's waning seconds.
Darrow Women's Basketball fell to the visiting ThunderChicks of Doane Stuart 33-25 at D's House. A slow start resulted in 12-point deficit for the Ducks, but they were able to regroup and close the gap before running out of steam in the waning minutes of the hard fought contest. Senior guard KayKay led Darrow with 8 points, 7 rebounds and 5 steals. Sophomore forward Tyler netted 7 points, including a 3-pointer, and nabbed 6 boards. Sophomore center Leah continued her strong play in the defensive paint, ripped down 7 rebounds, and added 3 points. The highlight play of the game was from the offensive baseline when junior guard and co-captain Jayme indicated a silent adjustment on a set play by nodding her head and Princess Krystal made the adjustment, setting herself up for an open 3-pointer that caught nothing but net.
Darrow men hosted Storm King. After a very tough game against a strong opponent, Storm King prevailed 78-25. Point scorers were:

Darrow Women's Basketball zoomed down to Storm King where they took a 40-18 loss to the Cougars. An ice cold shooting day, such as can happen in basketball, for the Ducks was the primary reason for the margin. The noteworthy highlights of the game for Darrow were made 3-pointers by three different players - senior forward and captain Mia, sophomore forward Tyler and sophomore super stealth player Princess Krystal.
Darrow Women's Basketball traveled to Hoosick Falls, NY where they lost a close decision to the home team Owls, 44-38. The game was intense, spirited, physical and up tempo throughout. Sophomore forward Tyler led Darrow with 11 points, including a 3-pointer, 13 rebounds and 3 steals. Senior guard KayKay added 7 points, 13 rebounds, 3 assists and 4 steals, all while playing intense full court defense. Sophomore stealth weapon Princess Krystal added 7 points, including a 3-pointer. Sophomore center Leah scored 6 points and ripped down 9 boards. Junior guard and captain Jayme had 7 steals and a basket. Senior forward and captain Mia added a 3-pointer.
Hoosac brought a depleted squad to Darrow today. Unfortunately that depleted squad was their top 6 guys. After a hard fought game where we improved overall, we still fell 100-32.

It came down to the final shot in a game played before a pretty large gathering at D's House and that shot did not go in for Darrow. Emma Willard JV prevailed in the thrilling contest 31-30. Senior forward and captain Mia led Darrow with 7 points, including a 3-pointer, 11 rebounds. Sophomore forward Tyler also scored 7 points, including a 3-pointer, and had 6 steals. Junior guard and captain Jayme added 5 points, made some clutch free throws, had 2 key assists and pulled down 5 rebounds.... all while playing her usual sterling defense. Senior guard KayKay scored 2 critical baskets as the game went back and forth in the second half and was a force on the boards with 7 rebounds. Sophomore center Leah tallied 4 points and 5 boards. Sophomore guard Meredith was a stalwart on defense, added 2 points on key free throws and completed 2 steals.
Darrow Women's Basketball traveled to Oakwood Friends where they dropped a 55-30 decision to the undefeated league leaders. Senior and co-captain Mia led the Ducks with a career high 13 points, including 3 3-pointers. Junior guard and co-captain Jayme added 4 points and an assist, while senior guard KayKay, making her first varsity start, scored 4, had an assist and pulled down 5 rebounds. Sophomore forward Tyler regrouped after a challenging first half to score 6 points, snag 7 rebounds and complete 2 blocks. And... DWB had a great team dinner on the way home...
The Ducks hosted Oakwood Friends today in D's House. Down 2 starters to injury, Darrow faced a stiff challenge in a strong OFS team. Final score was 59-25 Oakwood, but the Ducks never died and played their strongest basketball in the last 4 minutes. With 20 seconds left, Jared '20 drove to the basket, drew the defense and dished to Paul '17 in the corner who shot and banked in his first 2 Darrow points.
