Girls Basketball vs. Hoosac (away)

Darrow Women's Basketball journeyed to Hoosick Falls to face Hoosac and came away with a hard fought 51-43 win. Although DWB led for the entire game, the host team narrowed the gap to 2 or 3 points on several occasions in the game's waning minutes, however the Ducks were able to manage late-game situations effectively and preserve the win. Senior captain Crystal had a stellar all-around game --- 27 points on 11 for 22 shooting, 13 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. Senior captain Tyler posted a 22/14/3/3 night. Sophomore forward Sakina scored a crucial second half basket, snared 5 rebounds and dove and recovered a loose ball. Junior forward Naomi provided excellent defense against a taller, stronger opponent. Senor captain Leah patrolled the paint on defense and had a nice block of a shot by her Hoosac counterpart. First year center Abena pulled down 3 boards in relief of Leah. First year defensive sensation Ma'kea played long minutes in the second half while effectively guarding the opposition's primary scoring threat. Darrow (9-3, 6-3) is slated to host Doane Stuart in a make up game on Thursday, closing out the January portion of their schedule.
