Girls Basketball vs. Oakwood (away)

In the first game back after hiatus, Darrow Women's Basketball was able to withstand a strong defensive effort by Oakwood Friends, clawing their way to an 8-point win on the road in Poughkeepsie. Despite arguably the worst shooting night of the year and certainly a tough night taking care of the basketball, Darrow played hard and was able to score just enough to be able to honk the horns upon turning into Darrow Road. Senior captain Tyler had 14 points and 3 assists, Senior captain Crystal added 8 of her own with 7 rebounds from the point guard position. Junior guard Corinne scored 5, including a 3-pointer. Sophomore Sakina started at forward, tallied 5 points, pulled down a game high 9 rebounds, had 3 steals and got down and dirty on the floor for 4 loose balls. Her heart, hustle and determination was critical for keeping an off night from going even off-er. First years Abena (center) and Akosua (forward-guard) provided vital minutes off the bench and their entry into the game served to up the defensive intensity significantly. And first year guard Ma'kea upped it even further with withering defense, 1 steal, 2 rebounds and a big free throw made a crucial point in the second half. Darrow (11-4, 7-3) now turns around and welcomes Poughkeepsie Day to D's House for a Valentine's Day Matinee.
