Girls Basketball vs. Emma Willard (home)

Ed 0 121
Darrow Women's Basketball welcomed Emma Willard JV to D's House and, possibly feeling the effects of a physical game on Saturday, found themselves on the short end of the score at halftime. The team rallied in the second half, however, to pin a 39-28 defeat on the visiting Jesters. First year guard Ma'kea was inserted into the game in the second half with the express assignment of shutting down the Jesters' top scorer. Ma'kea played withering defense, blanketing the opposing guard, and her energy and effort were an inspiration to the team. The Ducks found their shooting rhythm in the second half with senior captains Crystal and Tyler dropping 3 3-pointers apiece to spur the comeback. Senior forward Naomi offered a stellar defensive effort, locking down the defensive left side of the court for the significant minutes in the second half, while also pulling down 7 rebounds and scoring a big basket during the second half run. First year Sydney provided defensive and rebounding spark off the bench in the first half, helping a team that was having trouble getting out of first gear begin to gain some momentum. First year Akosua displayed versatility, desire and hustle - playing 2 different positions, pulling down 5 rebounds and adding an assist for good measure. Darrow (8-4, 6-3) next travels to Hoosac on Wednesday.

Boys Basketball vs. Doane Stuart (away)

Darrow Men's Basketball made the trip to Albany to take on Doan Stuart on their home court. Darrow was up by 6 at the half, but a third quarter resurgence and a strong DS fourth quarter left us down by 4 with a minute and a half left on the clock. Freshman guard Matthew grabbed a quick steal and led the fast break to get us down 2, and another quick steal and basket tied it up. A final defensive stand-turned-fastbreak led by senior captain Michael and finished by senior Evan gave us the lead, and from there on out we won the free throw game. Michael led the team with 33 points, 25 rebounds, 4 steals and 5 blocks, having a great game on both sides of the court. Evan and sophomore guard Walter were inserted with the sole intention of shutting down DS's shooter and both were key cogs in our victory. Junior PF Tom played big minutes and hit two threes back to back, and came up with a few big steals on the other end to keep the game close. Jaideep '21, Logan, and Matthew were all tasked at different times to run the offense and keep the ball moving in a tight space and all did a marvelous job. Jaideep, in particular, made his presence felt by logging 8 assists. Our next game is at home against Hoosac, where the Darrow men will look to log their fourth straight W.
