Darrow defeated the Storm King School's Junior Varsity Team 63-38. Senior day for the gentlemen saw us host the Storm King School JV team. Our guys were still riding high from the previous victory, and you could feel the energy in the gym. Our guys made sure not to underestimate SKS just because they were a JV team, they knew that these young players were scrappy, energetic, played tough defense, and had some pretty good shooters who we did not want to get hot. Darrow jumped out to an early lead, and never looked back. They played lock down defense throughout the game, and frustrated the SKS players at all ends of the court.

Darrow Women's Basketball sprinted ahead of visiting Faith Christian in the second half to take a 49-40 decision in D's House. The slow paced first half (14-11, Darrow) became a track meet in the second half when FCA's full court press upped the tempo of the game. For the most part, Darrow was successful in breaking the press, leading to many layups and other good shot opportunities. Junior forward Crystal led the Ducks with 21 points, 18 rebounds 3 blocked shots, one of them a thunderous block that set off a roar in the home gym. Junior forward Tyler added 13 points and 15 rebounds while completing 5 steals. Senior guard Jayme (2 points) was once again given the assignment of defending the opposition's best player and did a great job with that task. Senior guard Royanne added 5 points off the bench, including a sweet 3 pointer that brought the crowd to its feet. Junior guard Meredith headed the Darrow press, forcing FCA to use time and energy bringing the ball up the court nearly every possession. Junior center Leah anchored the defense, scored 4 points, and ripped down 7 rebounds. Junior forward Naomi nailed 2 free throws (career firsts!), had two rebounds and connected with Jayme on the front end of a highlight-worthy pass to cutting teammate layup. First year forward Sakina scored at the buzzer, as she and first year Emelia were on the court with the tri-captains, tasked with closing out the win. Darrow is now 11-3, 6-2 in HVAL play and will close its league season with a trip to Storm King on Saturday.
From Coach Ouellette: Darrow triumphs 75-59. FCA came to D's house to take on a Ducks team that lost a starter to injury. Our gentlemen took this game personally as FCA embarrassed us by 20 in the first game this year, and the gents said it wasn't going to happen today. Darrow jumped out to an early 20 point lead that moved up as high as 31 before finishing the game up by 16.
