Game was cancelled this morning.
In an HVAL league semi-final match on the road against Marvelwood, the Darrow lacrosse team delivered a staunch and worthy effort everywhere on the field from beginning to end of the game, but was unable to breach the Marvelwood defense, falling short by a final score of 0-13. Even though Darrow was ultimately unable to find the back of the Marvelwood net, the team never let down in its intensity, playing with focus and energy right to the final horn. As with prior games this season, the Darrow players again demonstrated their versatility, enthusiasm, and team focus by quickly and efficiently making numerous position adjustments during the game. One auspicious highlight of the game was several excellent scoring opportunities that reflected the improvement in Darrow’s cutting and feeding game, with sophomore midfielder Andy, sophomore attack Calvin, junior attack Jocelyn, and senior captain Louis, normally a mainstay of our defensive back line but playing attack in the final quarter of the game, all coming close to scoring off perfectly-placed assists from teammates. Sophomore goalkeeper Jared turned in a solid performance between the pipes for the first three quarters, with multiple saves and aggressive, heads-up clearing. Senior goalkeeper Felix took over in goal for the fourth quarter to close out the game and his Darrow career. Despite wrapping up the season with a loss, the spirit, comradery, and enthusiasm of the team all remain strong, and there's already excited talk about what the 2019 season will hold.
