The Darrow lacrosse team notched its first victory of the season in a 9-5 win over visiting Woodstock Day School at Hempstead Memorial Field. This win was a true across-the-board team effort, with starters and back-ups all contributing energetically to the team’s execution on the field and the successful final outcome. Sophomore goalkeeper Jared had another excellent outing between the pipes, notching multiple saves and initiating clears with his trademark confidence and speed. Darrow’s goal production came from senior captain and attackman Luke, with six goals, fellow senior captain and midfielder Sam, with two, and freshman attackman Charley, with the first goal of his Darrow career. Darrow’s offense in this game was bolstered by the dominance of the team’s midfield unit, particularly center middies Sam and Leo ‘18, in controlling the majority of faceoffs throughout the game. The team now looks to carry the momentum of this win, together with the valuable game experience gained by every player on the team, into the season's remaining matches.
