In a convincing demonstration of its resilience, team spirit, and continuing improvement, the Darrow lacrosse team played hard and cohesively right up to the final horn in an 8-18 loss to the visiting Marvelwood Pterodactyls. Darrow got onto the scoreboard first and kept the game even into the second quarter, at which point Marvelwood started to pull ahead. Goalkeeper duties were split by starting goalie Felix ‘18, who played the first half, and rookie goalkeeper Jared ‘20, who came on strong in the second half, bringing the ball upfield on clears and reinvigorating Darrow's defensive game. Goal production came from senior captain and attackman Luke with six goals, joined by senior captain and midfielder Sam and sophomore attackman Brennan with one each. Kudos to Sam for continuing to anchor our midfield game with his seemingly endless stamina, steadily growing skill and success with faceoffs, and overall ability to effectively play both ends of the field. Now at the midpoint of their season, the Darrow players have recommitted themselves to a strong and determined showing in the second half of their schedule, culminating with our Senior Day home match against Storm King on Wednesday, May 9.
Postponed due to weather.
Darrow softball continued their winning streak with a 21-11 victory over Oakwood Friends School. Cassidy ’18 and Corinne ’19 each pitched one and a half innings and both got several strike outs. Rianna ’20 and Sakina ’21 got their first starts for Darrow and each got a hit. Mickey ’18 had a beautiful catch in right field for a big out. We look forward to our next game against Marvelwood.
Although we did not come out with a win, Zoe '18 played her first singles match of her Darrow career.
