Looking for magic? It’s in the library. You’ll find monsters, witches, and fairies here, along with thousands of other stories that both reflect and shape our human experience. You’ll find the voices of others, and along the way, discover the voice that is your own. We keep ideas here, and we’ll help you chase down the knowledge and details you need to form and share ideas of your own.
Darrow’s Heyniger Memorial Library is for dreamers. Housed in a former Shaker Meeting House, you’ll be surrounded by history as soon as you enter, inspired by a sense of place that still rings with purpose. Staffed by a full-time librarian, you may come here with a class to sharpen research skills, with a mentor for guided study, with friends to grab a cup of tea, or all by yourself to curl up on one of our cozy chairs with a good book.
The Library also accommodates the individual student looking for silent study, small collaborative study groups, access to laptops, and evening Support Study Hall, proctored by faculty members. The Library is the site of informal gatherings and co-curricular activities, including poetry/literature readings, and Coffee House. Students consistently name the Library as one of their favorite spots at Darrow. Come check us out; we’d love to be your favorite place, too.
