Coronavirus update - March 17, 2020
March 17th, 2020
Dear Members of the Darrow Family -
I write now with important updates:
Due to the continually changing threat of COVID-19, Darrow’s campus will remain closed until April 26, 2020. This, of course, is still subject to change. In the event we are forced to remain closed for longer, we will be in touch about a whole range of concerns, including how to handle graduation. Let’s hope we do not have to go there.
Darrow’s distance learning program will begin at the end of spring break, April 6th, and extend until we can be together once again on campus.
The Academic Department will soon be sending out extensive information regarding our distance learning program - expectations, how-tos, etc. You will also receive information about how Darrow’s student support services will continue to function during the period of distance learning. Please reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns.
Additionally, we have decided to cancel Spring Term activities and trips this year. Following the recommendations of the CDC, the state and local health departments, as well as guidelines from the National Association of Independent Schools, we firmly believe this action is the safest for our community. Any monies deposited towards this program will be returned to student SDA accounts. If you have questions or concerns about Spring Term, please direct these to Catherine Stines at [email protected].
These are indeed strange times. Over the years, I’ve often wondered what the characters in a Stephen King story must have felt. Now, I know. Luckily, the strength and resilience of the Darrow community gives us comfort those characters never had. Even when we are physically apart, Darrow students can rely on the support of every member of our faculty and staff for their learning and well-being.
Stay home and stay safe,
Andy
