Traditions run deep on the Mountainside!

You'll leave Darrow someday, but Darrow will never really leave you. By the time you're a senior, you'll have accrued enough memorable, fun, and gratifying experiences to last a lifetime.

Darrow School Traditions
Some favorites: Convocation lighting of the candles signaling the start of the new school year, Fresh Fire (the Freshman camping trip & retreat), MapleFest, celebrating the arrival of spring and the running of the sap, Tuesday Community Programming, and SpringFest Dorm Wars, the ultimate competition

CONVOCATION

Marking the official start of the academic year, the Darrow community—students, faculty, and staff—gathers around Tannery Pond to welcome the new year, which features an awe-inspiring ceremonious lighting of the candles!

Coffee House

A student-run open mic night, offering a laid-back opportunity for our campus performers. It is a relaxed and welcoming event on our campus where students can showcase their talents in front of a supportive audience. This event is an excellent opportunity for students to gain confidence in front of an audience of loud cheers and applause.

Darrow on the Fringe

Throughout the year, our theater program showcases students' unique talents in several stage productions, including the eagerly anticipated annual event 'Darrow on the Fringe.' This festival of short plays is a one-of-a-kind experience, featuring original one-act plays written, directed, and performed by Darrow students

Maplefest

It's a day where we all come together as a community to celebrate the arrival of spring, everything maple, and outdoor games and activities!

PROM

Prom, short for promenade, is a formal dance and a significant rite of passage at Darrow. It's a grand celebration that marks the end of the year and serves as a final farewell to our graduating students as they prepare to embark on their next journey.
