What Makes a Great Artist?
Our Art, Design, & Innovation Program was developed around a central theme of process. Student artists acquire foundational skills and hone their creative practice over time. As an incoming student, you will start with art and design principles to build a solid base and skill set to expand. You will begin to develop a relationship between your work and more significant concepts through research and evaluation of historical and contemporary artists.
Looking to pursue the arts beyond Darrow?
There are plenty of incredible opportunities for independent study or advanced courses that will allow you to develop a portfolio to showcase your talents. Our classroom structure is flexible to accommodate student needs and optimize the learning experience. We encourage artists to utilize the Joline studios outside of class during their free blocks and during evening and weekend studio open hours.
THINK, CREATE. MAKE.
Let's Innovate!
Our maker space, the Kurtz Innovation Center (KIC), is at the intersection of the arts and technology. It is a hub for experimentation, learning, and cross-disciplinary inquiry. Students work to effectively define creative outlets for personal expression while learning the value of observation from multiple perspectives. Equipped with analog and digital tools, students can enter with an idea and leave with a solution.
Fabricate and Tinker at the KIC! This is a space that supports creativity using tools such as robotics equipment, 3D printers and scanners, a CNC router, and more.
