Leadership & Clubs

Making friends is key to happiness and success at Darrow and in life; student engagement and leadership help create opportunities for this. We offer many formal and informal opportunities for you to actively develop, organize, and lead campus programs and activities.

core leaders

Each Spring, the Dean of Students recruits sophomores and juniors who have shown leadership and commitment to the community to serve as Core Leaders for the following Fall. The position is an opportunity to grow as a leader and welcome incoming students while supporting the Dean of Students in creating a culture of inclusivity and respect.

Student Government

Made up of an elected Student Body President and elected representatives. Student Government is responsible for designing, organizing, and implementing activities and events that support all programs at the school.

Student Body President

Every spring, the student body elects a Student Body President for the following fall. In collaboration with the Dean of Students, the Student Body President serves as a liaison between students, faculty, and the Head of School, working together with other student leaders to maintain a positive community culture.

Prefects

Students can take on leadership roles in various areas of school life. As a Prefect, each student is assigned a faculty member to guide and support them in supervising and directing essential school activities and services. Selected Prefects may also be asked to return to school early for leadership training. The faculty, in collaboration with the Dean of Students, selects Prefects. A detailed announcement outlining the duties and procedures for applying to become Prefects is made in early Spring, and selection results are posted before graduation. Juniors and Seniors who are interested in becoming a Prefect can apply midway through the year.

Resident Assistants (RAs)

Each year, the Dean of Students' office appoints Resident Assistants to each dorm. RAs are responsible for assisting dorm parents in managing the house and providing leadership for their fellow students.  A detailed announcement of duties and procedures for application is made by early Spring, and selections are posted before graduation. RAs are entitled to leadership privileges, which include special late lights privileges and reduced room inspection.
