B.A. Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts Brittney Barnes has served as Darrow's only on-site counselor since 2023. During her Bachelor's program at the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, she studied Performing Arts and Psychology, which led to developing arts-based programs to develop social skills in young children. Upon graduating, she promptly moved into the education field, first as a teaching assistant for an urban high school equivalency program. To better serve these and future students, Brittney enrolled in the College of Saint Rose, graduating in 2019 with a sixty-credit Masters in School Counseling, formerly referred to as Guidance Counseling. Upon meeting the vibrant faculty at Darrow, the connection between the efforts of this school to shape young people and Brittney's work as a school counselor was undeniable. "The goal was always to meet students where they are, hone in on who they are, what they're going through, and work through it together. If we can help just one student navigate a path to success, then we've done our job." |
