Lara Solis is an English Language Learning Teacher and Dorm Parent at Darrow. She is a recent graduate from Bennington College, where she studied Community Psychology and Migration Studies. She is a proficient translator and certified mediator, and her work has taken her to roles assisting communities' integration and adaptation, while celebrating and uplifting diversity. She has published work in journals such as EuropeNow, focusing on how to do in-depth, college-level instruction on migration. As an immigrant to the United States herself, Lara focuses on giving back to her community and supporting international students at the college and high school level, distinctly with their English language learning. She has been a language educator for over six years, from her work in Costa Rica with high school and primary school students, to supporting farmworkers in Southern Vermont, to her year year teaching English in Pune, with Teach for India. Lara has extensive training in restorative justice practices and her educational style is focused on highly individualized, equitable, and adaptable teaching. She is fluent in three languages and currently learning ASL.
