Alicia Jordan joins Darrow with more than 20 years of experience as a teacher, coach, dean, and school leader in independent and boarding schools. Throughout her career, Alicia has taught history, humanities, American Studies, economics, and courses exploring power, identity, and social justice. She is especially interested in helping students see history as a way to better understand themselves, their communities, and the world around them. She believes that the best classrooms invite students to ask meaningful questions, examine evidence, and consider different perspectives.

Alicia has spent much of her career in boarding school communities and has served in a variety of student-life and administrative roles, including Dean of Students, Assistant Head of School, and Dean of Faculty. Most recently, she served as Middle School Dean at Doane Stuart School. She has also coached varsity basketball, soccer, lacrosse, and golf, and served as a dorm parent. These experiences have reinforced her belief that some of the most important learning happens outside the classrooms and that strong schools are built through relationships, shared responsibility, and a genuine sense of community.

At Darrow, Alicia teaches history and is excited to explore the connections between social studies, the community, purposeful work, and the world students inhabit today. She is particularly drawn to the opportunity to learn from Darrow's Shaker heritage while helping students consider what it means to contribute meaningfully to a community. Outside the classroom, Alicia enjoys fly fishing, golf, and spending time with her Aussiedoodle, Billie, who is named after Billie Jean King.
