Dear Darrow Community,
We write today with wonderful news: Darrow School will be open for the 2024-2025 school year!
We have received a very generous pledge from an anonymous friend of Darrow, and although that pledge does not get us over the $5 million mark, it moves the needle significantly closer. There is enough momentum to believe our goal will be exceeded soon.
All that remains is a formal vote that complies with New York law and Darrow’s bylaws. Because our prior vote only contemplated keeping Darrow open if the $5 million goal was reached by January 25th, we must hold a new vote to rescind that decision. However, all current trustees have agreed in principle to this arrangement, so that vote is just a formality at this point.
We are so grateful to the more than 650 people who have made pledges to the Save Darrow Campaign. The efforts of dozens of enthusiastic volunteers were absolutely crucial.
We will provide more information in the near future. For now, let's take comfort in the strength and resilience of the Darrow community. We have a lot of work to do, but your collective support has kept our beloved School alive.
Sincerely,
Board of Trustees

If you are able and willing to contribute more or have been observing from the sidelines, now is the time to act. We must raise $5M in pledges, or Darrow School will close.
Take a moment to imagine where YOU would be today without Darrow. Then, imagine where Darrow will be tomorrow without YOU. This is it. Will you help?

We TRULY need phone volunteers! Phone efforts have been VERY helpful to date, and many donors were unaware of the school's challenges. PLEASE help with the 600+ calls that need to be completed. ANY amount of time you can give will help! Contact Meagan Ledendecker and thank you! Please share this post with your networks. - Save Darrow

The possibility of Darrow shutting its doors is most keenly felt by students, parents, and the many faculty who call Darrow their home. When the Darrow Board of Trustees and Administration selected the January 13th closure decision deadline, they did so out of respect for those whose lives would be most severely impacted by the decision. This deadline, however, was determined in November, and the progress that has been made in the ensuing 8 weeks by the Save Darrow team and many alumni has been nothing short of remarkable.
Please find below a letter from faculty to the Board of Trustees requesting that the effective and substantial efforts underway to gather additional support for the school be given time to continue.
Thank you for your passion and continued support of Darrow.

Dear Darrow School Board of Trustees,
We are buoyed by the incredible outreach and response from the Save Darrow efforts. To see the outpouring of support in just a few short weeks has been amazing. We appreciate the Board’s desire to give a definitive message to faculty and families so we can plan accordingly. We understand that the main reason for reconvening the Board so quickly is to ensure that we can figure out our next steps.
That being said, we also want to make sure that the efforts that have begun can continue. If the remaining $2-2.5 million is not raised before Friday, we urge the Board to delay another week or two before holding the final vote.
Sincerely,
Betsy Feathers, current faculty and long-time New Lebanon resident

CALLING ALL DUCKS!
WHY DO WE NEED TO SUPPORT DARROW? -`♡'- ⛰️ ∞
The possible closure of Darrow is heartbreaking for all of us who care deeply about the Mountainside.
What can I do? We need YOU; we need the Darrow community. We need everyone for this new kind of hands-on work. Not just funding but re-engaging. This will take everyone coming together to help in whatever way we can. Now is the time to invest in the Darrow experience for future generations.
How can I support? First and foremost, we need donations and pledges. Donations to the Annual Fund will offset this year's expenses. And pledges to the Save Darrow Campaign
/save-darrow/save-darrow-pledge-form will give Darrow a runway to continue into the 2024-2025 school year and beyond. If Darrow School fails to meet its funding goal and the Board of Trustees decides to close the school, those pledges will be non-binding.
Join the Save Darrow conversation happening on the Alumni and Former Faculty Facebook Group—we want to hear from you.
